I1946 — The verdict words are status words of the design system

File the proof-state verdict words as hyphenated status tokens with a declared role, so that every surface renders a verdict through the design system and a verdict added later must get a role before it can render (ADR 0087 decision 13).

Objective

File the proof-state verdict words as hyphenated status tokens with a declared role, so that every surface renders a verdict through the design system and a verdict added later must get a role before it can render (ADR 0087 decision 13).

Why

The verdict words proven, inputs-unchanged, failing, unrunnable, not-run and no-test are not status tokens, so a surface that wants to colour a verdict has to invent a mapping. The token name pattern refuses underscores, so the keys are the wire words with hyphens.

Current state

share/design/tokens.yaml files stale, pending and unknown under status.states, and none of the verdict words above. share/cockpit/cockpit.css is compiled from the tokens and carries no selector for them.

Desired state

Each verdict word is filed exactly once under its role (proven ok; inputs-unchanged info; failing and unrunnable bad; not-run and no-test neutral), the derived stylesheets carry one selector per word, and a case reads the vocabulary from the executable's own schema rather than from a list.

Scope

  • share/design
  • share/cockpit/cockpit.css
  • apps/majordomus-cli/src/web/tokens.css
  • apps/majordomus-cli/src/design/tokens.yaml
  • test/cases/501_verdict_words_are_status_words.sh

Out of scope

  • Rust code: ProofState::token() belongs to I1948
  • Re-adding stale, pending or unknown, which are already filed
  • share/cockpit/src
  • docs/CLAIMS.yaml

Dependencies

None. This issue is a root of the graph.

What waits on this

Acceptance criteria

  • Every word of the ProofState schema, with each underscore replaced by a hyphen, is filed exactly once in status.states under its declared role
  • A schema word the case's role table does not place fails the case, naming the word
  • scripts/cockpit-assets --check exits 0 over the rebuilt stylesheet

Validation

  • bash test/run.sh 501_verdict_words_are_status_words
  • scripts/cockpit-assets --check

Evidence required

  • verdict_words_filed

Evidence

coverstypecommandresultat commit
verdict_words_filedtestbash test/run.sh 501_verdict_words_are_status_wordsok at 4090b2b8ae: all seven ProofState words are filed once under their role with a badge selector in both stylesheets; scripts/cockpit-assets --check exits 0 in the primary checkout at the same commit (the committed stylesheet matches its source)4090b2b

Risk

share/cockpit/cockpit.css is compiled and not merge=derived, so a conflict on it is resolved by rebuilding it with scripts/cockpit-assets, never by hand.

Those three fields, the evidence above and the state of the dependencies are all the status is made of. There is no status field to disagree with them.
