majordomus design licence

Whether a public tree holds a licensed kit's files: active, inactive, not_judged or refused, each match with its file, licensed source and kind; exit 0 for active and inactive, 10 when refused, 12 when not judged (no evidence here, or a ui: block that cannot be used), 2 for evidence that cannot be read, 13 when the tree cannot be listed

majordomus design licence

Usage

majordomus design licence [OPTIONS]

Arguments

argumentvaluedefaultdescription
--evidence <FILE> — A kit-evidence/v1 file; absent reads the policy's ui.evidence entries under $HOME
--json flag — The same as --format json
--repo <PATH> — Start the search for the repository root here (default: the current directory) (accepted by every subcommand)
--discovery vcs | filesystem vcs How declarative files are enumerated (accepted by every subcommand)
  • vcs — Tracked files, through the version-control index (the layer's contract); a layer none of which is tracked is read from the work tree
  • filesystem — A walk of the work tree with the same glob semantics; untracked files included
--strict flag — Refuse to proceed when any file of the layer carries an error diagnostic (accepted by every subcommand)
--share <DIR> — The tool distribution's share directory (kinds.yaml, schemas/); default: $MAJORDOMUS_SHARE, then the repository's own share/, then the one beside the executable (accepted by every subcommand)
--format text | json text Output shape (accepted by every subcommand)
  • text — Lines for a person
  • json — One JSON document, deterministic

Examples

  • Whether a public tree holds a licensed kit's files

The same answer the MCP tool `majordomus_design_licence` returns: `/verdict` (`active`, `inactive`, `not_judged` or `refused`), `/fails`, the declared `/kit` and `/visibility`, why under `/reason`, and every file that holds a licensed file's bytes under `/matches`. This repository's policy declares no kit (`ui.kit` is empty), so the gate is skipped: the verdict is `inactive` and the exit is 0. A refusal exits 10, a public tree with a declared kit and no evidence exits 12, and an evidence file that cannot be read exits 2 naming the file and the line, never its content.

$ majordomus design licence --format json

What it asserts: exits 0; prints one JSON document carrying /verdict, /fails, /kit, /visibility, /matches.

Tested by apps/majordomus-cli/tests/cli_examples.rs, which runs the command against the built executable and asserts what the page states.

Where this comes from

Declared once in apps/majordomus-cli/src/cli.rs: clap for the structure, typed Rust metadata beside it for the examples. This page, majordomus design licence --help, docs/generated/cli.md and docs/generated/cli.json are projections of that one declaration.

The whole command line on one page: the registry's command-line page. The task lifecycle (init, start, finish, doctor, ...) belongs to the shell tool, a different program: Commands and its specification.
