majordomus quality rustdoc

Judge the crate's rustdoc tree against the crate: every page present, HEAD's, nothing broken or leaked

majordomus quality rustdoc

Usage

majordomus quality rustdoc [OPTIONS]

Arguments

argumentvaluedefaultdescription
--repo <PATH> — Start the search for the repository root here (default: the current directory) (accepted by every subcommand)
--discovery vcs | filesystem vcs How declarative files are enumerated (accepted by every subcommand)
  • vcs — Tracked files, through the version-control index (the layer's contract); a layer none of which is tracked is read from the work tree
  • filesystem — A walk of the work tree with the same glob semantics; untracked files included
--strict flag — Refuse to proceed when any file of the layer carries an error diagnostic (accepted by every subcommand)
--share <DIR> — The tool distribution's share directory (kinds.yaml, schemas/); default: $MAJORDOMUS_SHARE, then the repository's own share/, then the one beside the executable (accepted by every subcommand)
--format text | json text Output shape
  • text — Lines for a person
  • json — One JSON document, deterministic
--kind <KIND> — Only findings of this kind, e.g. missing-page, orphan-page, stale, link, machine-path
--summary flag — Print the verdict and the counts and leave the findings out
--tree <DIR> — Judge this directory instead of the rustdoc surface's artifact, e.g. site/public/rustdoc

Examples

  • Whether the crate's rustdoc tree is complete, current and sound

The rustdoc surface's tree judged against the crate's own inventory: every exported item's page at its route, no page without an item, built from HEAD, the index and its assets present, every relative link resolved, nothing naming the machine or shaped like a credential. Exits 0 clean, 10 with findings, and 12 when there is nothing to judge — as here, in a repository that carries no Rust crate, or wherever the producer (scripts/rust-check --doc) has not run. A check that cannot see its subject says so; it never reports clean.

    $ majordomus quality rustdoc

    What it asserts: exits 12.

Tested by apps/majordomus-cli/tests/cli_examples.rs, which runs the command against the built executable and asserts what the page states.

  • Another copy of the tree, judged the same way

A directory named on the command line — the tree scripts/site-build composed into the site — judged by the same judgement, as the document every transport answers with: the verdict, the counts, every exported module with its page, and one typed finding per defect. Only a person at their own terminal names a directory; over HTTP and MCP the subject is always the surface's artifact.

$ majordomus quality rustdoc --tree site/public/rustdoc --format json

    What it asserts: exits 12.

Tested by apps/majordomus-cli/tests/cli_examples.rs, which runs the command against the built executable and asserts what the page states.

Where this comes from

Declared once in apps/majordomus-cli/src/cli.rs: clap for the structure, typed Rust metadata beside it for the examples. This page, majordomus quality rustdoc --help, docs/generated/cli.md and docs/generated/cli.json are projections of that one declaration.

The whole command line on one page: the registry's command-line page. The task lifecycle (init, start, finish, doctor, ...) belongs to the shell tool, a different program: Commands and its specification.
