majordomus offload stop

Stop an offloaded run as a process group on its host: read its run record, refuse unless the record names this session (or --force), then TERM the group and KILL what is left after the grace period. Exit 2 on a tag that is not one or an ambiguous host, 12 when the host holds no record or the group is not the run's, 13 when the run belongs to another session

majordomus offload stop

Usage

majordomus offload stop [OPTIONS] <TAG>

Arguments

argumentvaluedefaultdescription
<TAG> <TAG> required The run's tag, as `offload derive` printed it
--host <HOST> — A declared host, by id or address; the declaration's only host when absent
--force flag — Stop it although its record names another session, or none
--grace <SECONDS> 10 Seconds between TERM and KILL
--repo <PATH> — Start the search for the repository root here (default: the current directory) (accepted by every subcommand)
--discovery vcs | filesystem vcs How declarative files are enumerated (accepted by every subcommand)
  • vcs — Tracked files, through the version-control index (the layer's contract); a layer none of which is tracked is read from the work tree
  • filesystem — A walk of the work tree with the same glob semantics; untracked files included
--strict flag — Refuse to proceed when any file of the layer carries an error diagnostic (accepted by every subcommand)
--share <DIR> — The tool distribution's share directory (kinds.yaml, schemas/); default: $MAJORDOMUS_SHARE, then the repository's own share/, then the one beside the executable (accepted by every subcommand)
--declaration <FILE> — Read this derive-offload declaration file instead of the repository's (accepted by every subcommand)
--format text | json text Output shape (accepted by every subcommand)
  • text — Lines for a person
  • json — One JSON document, deterministic

Examples

  • A stop with no declared host signals nothing

Reads the run record `offload derive` left beside the host's queue, refuses unless it names this session (or --force), and stops the run's whole process group — TERM, then KILL after the grace period — so no compiler under it outlives the run. With no host declared there is no run to stop, and it refuses with 12 before it contacts anything.

    $ majordomus offload stop 0123456789

    What it asserts: exits 12.

Tested by apps/majordomus-cli/tests/cli_examples.rs, which runs the command against the built executable and asserts what the page states.

Where this comes from

Declared once in apps/majordomus-cli/src/cli.rs: clap for the structure, typed Rust metadata beside it for the examples. This page, majordomus offload stop --help, docs/generated/cli.md and docs/generated/cli.json are projections of that one declaration.

The whole command line on one page: the registry's command-line page. The task lifecycle (init, start, finish, doctor, ...) belongs to the shell tool, a different program: Commands and its specification.
